Annotating The Lyrics
Feedback On Pitch
Last lesson Tajay, Celia and I pitched our ideas for our music video to our classmates who were also creating their own music videos. From pitching our ideas of a 90's inspired gang cultured music video it allowed us to finally decide on the song that we would use. We had two choices of two different Tupac songs. The song we ended up deciding to create was 'Only God can judge me'. this was because the song wasnt too fast for us to lip sync and have a storyline. We also got some costume ideas from our classmates which included, double denim, bomber jackets, gold hoop earrings and a bandanna. Overall our feedback supported our idea and expanded on the knowledge we already had about 90s Hip Hop/Rap music videos. :)

Treatment
Background Information:
In our group we decided we was going to create a music video for a song by the famous Hip Hop rapper, Tupac. We had a hard decision between two of his songs but we came to a final decision that we were going to create a video for the song 'Only God Can Judge Me'. Growing up me, Tajay and Celia all listened to Hip Hop music in particular artists such as Eazy E, Notorious BIG etc. Recently the hit film 'Straight Outta Compton' has just come out and its all about how NWA and Ruthless Records started, it focused on how the music was created and the problems that occurred during the lifestyle of a HipHop/Rapper back in the 90's. This had a big influence on us, in picking a song within the same genre as we liked the style in which the music video was created and more importantly the song itself. Although most of our ideas have come from previous music videos and a 90's film, we decided we were going to female characters in the music video, to give our music video a plot twist.

Although most of our ideas have come from previous music videos and a 90's film, we decided we were going to female characters in the music video, to give our music video a plot twist.
Summary Of The Narrative:
Our initial idea for our music video was to have a young female as the main character who has a interesting story line whilst '2pac' narrates her life. Our story line consists of a young woman who grows up on a estate and friends 'snake' her a which results in her being shot in a drive by shooting. This converges with the lyrics as it states 'i couldn't trust my friends they was a bunch of dirty rats' this to us states that her friends betrayed her. The song also includes a heartbeat which increases during on part of the song, which we are going to use as our hospital scene when our main character has a flashback whilst shes 'dying'. instead of us showing the shooting we are going to use a fast cutting rate of shots such as a church, grave stone etc, as they all symbolize death.
Music Videos That Inspired Us:
Most of our inspiration came from music videos by 2pac and Eazy E. The song that inspired us by 2Pac was 'Dear Mama'. Dear Mama inspired us as it gave us the idea to have a female playing 2Pac as he looked up to his mum as if his mum was his queen, we wanted to incorporate the importance of females and how much young black women go through especially growing up in a deprived area. The song that inspired us by Eazy E was 'Boyz n tha hood'. This inspired us as it uses lots of typical 90's Hip Hop music video camera shots and costume. There are lots of panning shots while Eazy E is rapping to the camera, the panning shot shows Eazy walking down what seems to be his 'hood', this gives his fans an insight into his lifestyle and how he grew up, the camera shots are also at low angles and its shows Eazy is powerful as us as the audience are looking up to him. Aswell as this it shows alot of 90's fashionable clothing which includes acid/ washed-out high waist mom jeans, for women, circle frame glasses, bomber jackets and lots of big gold chains.
Casting / Actors, Props, location(s):
In our music video we would ideally like to have a group of young females, specifically 2-3 girls to make up which looks like a 'clique'. Our actresses will hopefully age from 17-20 years old. We are going to have up to five locations in which will represent a different side in the young females life. Our locations include Leake Street tunnel in Waterloo and Brick Lane in Algate East, both these locations are key in showing that we have researched typical Hip Hop locations, these locations converge with our music video as the both are covered in bright, bold and unique graffiti, which will give our music video an 'urban' look. Our 3rd location will be on a typical council estate, this is where most British rap/hip hop artists grew up and this could show that we are incorporating the idea of living on a 'block' in which all your 'homies' live too, which is full of crime, drugs and gang culture. Our 4th location will be a in the studio in front of green screen in which we can manipulate the background. Our last location will be of a church in which we are going to use for our fast cutting rate of many different aspects inside and outside a church.
Ethical Considerations and Audience:
Our music video will have some ethical issues, such as the use of fake drugs, and it does show some violence, however our video is aimed at an older teen audience, therefore our video will not be viewed to young children. Our video will also include a warning in the beginning, which will state that our video is not suitable for certain ages etc.
Channel for Broadcast:
Our music video will be available on all our YouTube channels, as it will hopefully get more views this way, it will also be promoted on all of our social media sites, such as: Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Putting Our Ideas Together
Todays lesson was primarily pretty much going into our gatherings and further talking about what precisely are our dreams for our gatherings last piece. My gathering comprises of Tajay, Celia and myself and our vision of our last piece is truth be told nothing current, we chose that affected by 2015's huge square buster hit "straight outta compton" we needed to do something based around that time and the time. The 1990's appeared to be a period where it was hard for dark children to go around wearing a specific path without being halted and sought likewise sharing an enthusiasm for such a variety of more established hip bounce, rap and R&B specialists we thought it would be enjoyable to do it in light of these sorts of individuals. As Reanne wasn't no huge exceptional choices were made yet rather Celia and i utilized our opportunity to look and rundown a couple of craftsmen that were fruitful at the time. This incorporates craftsmen, for example, Biggie smalls, Tupac Shakur, Luniz, N.W.A, snoop pooch, Aaliyah, TLC, Jodeci, Soul-for-soul, Shai, Boys2men and numerous other effective specialists.
In addition discovering routes film in such old venues would be extremely troublesome so we have likewise chosen to take a gander at some cutting edge rappers and specialists that would fit pleasantly into our subject. I have wound up affected by the "Throughout the day" execution of Kanye amid the MTV honors. The all dark clothing truly addresses me and in addition that the buildup on the stage and simply the feature's air itself has abandoned me needing to join something comparative into my gatherings last piece.

Music Video Practice Activity - Evaluation
In media we
had to get into groups of 3-4 and create a short music video for either
Pharrell Williams - happy or Let it go by Disney. My group decided that we were
going to recreate Happy. In my group we decided that I and Celia would be in
the music video itself, Tajay would help to direct and choreograph the music
video and Aadam would film and edit. Although we decided what roles we were
going to have, we all managed to help each other, so we all had an input in
what was being created, but most importantly all of ideas were being acknowledged
and used. As a group we decided we wouldn’t need our story board whilst we were
filming, however as a consequent of not using our story board it made directing
and film much longer and time consuming.
Aadam took
charge of filming and editing, it was fairly easy for Aadam to use the camera
as we all had previous knowledge when it came to using the camera. One of our
strengths during filming is that we knew how to adjust the brightness etc. When
it came to shooting at our second location the lighting was very dull because of
the angle the natural light was coming from however, Aadam adjusted the
brightness so the shots were clear. One thing we found hard during the editing
process was matching different shots with the lyrics of the song as me and
Celia was lip syncing throughout the music video.
When it came
to our general idea’s and directing it was fairly straight forward as we all
had very similar ideas which was, to have a fun video full of ‘bloopers’,
dancing and bright colours to converge with the lyrics ‘because im happy’.
Tajay is a dancer so it really benefited us when it came to creating and
directing the choreography. As a result of the video only being 30 seconds we didn’t
get to include all of our ideas, one being another location preferably out in
the field.

Shooting the music video!
Today in media my group decided we would go up to the studio and start filming at our 1st location. We chose the studio because it has a green screen, in which we can manipulate the background into something more fun to converge with the lyrics of the song. We decided that me and Celia would be in the actual video whilst Tajay helped to direct the choreography and Aadam filmed. As filming in the studio didn't take too long we decided to film in our 2nd location, which was the staircase, we needed to have something fun at the end of the video so we agreed that it would be best if we improvised as bloopers would come across more funny towards our audience.

Pharrell Williams - Happy
Today in class we had to get into groups of 3-4 and create a short music video for either Pharrell Williams - happy or Let it go by Disney. My group decided that we were going to recreate Happy. In my group we decided that me and Celia would be in the music video itself, Tajay would help to direct and choreograph the music video and Aadam would film and edit.Within this lesson we managed to pick a 30 second section of the song in which the lyrics are above, but also come up with 2 different locations in college that we thought would best suit our music video. We chose the studio as we can manipulate the green screen and put in a 'bright' background which we suggested whilst taking notes when we annotated the lyrics. We also chose the staircase as the walls behind are white and it shows we were versatile with our locations but it also shows we can use different locations even though we were restricted and had to stay with the college.
